Crawford offers More Green Ideas
Author: PolyBlogger
One question we get asked is, “how can we promote being more green?” Well the key elements in “Thinking Green” is the idea of reducing. Crawford offers additional ideas beyond using our 2nd Genesis Line of post-consumer polyethylene material. Consider these three ideas:
When a project is being extruded - “Can I reduce the thickness or gauge of the material?”
Many times this part of the project is overlooked. We have a mindset of quoting gauges we are familiar with. But if you reduce the thickness by 5% to 10% you save money and are sustainable. Now on small quantities, this may not be a savings, but for medium to large production run its worth considering.
When a project is requesting a custom color material - “Is there a stock color that could be substituted?”
We are happy to custom extrude any color, but when requesting a non-stock color it takes more material pounds to produce the color and it increases the price. This option is not always possible, but if a color could be substituted it produces less waste and makes your pricing more attractive.
Consider construction, packing and transportation
When a project is in the RFQ phase think through ways you can reduce. For instance, ship a product flat which will cut down packing materials and freight. Instead of adding a latch, go with a tuck tab closure. Maybe instead of a tote box recommended an expandable envelope. There are lots of ways to reduce waste and cost - we need to take a few extra moments to think it through.

The Window-View Binder is two components, the outside polypropylene binder and the inside SBS paper board insert. The combination of the two gives you a durable binder with high-end 4CP graphics and at an affordable price, even in small quantities.
